Sculptor-painter Olinka Broadfoot arrives in Portland with a new collection of work created while living in the Tondach brick factory near Prague, Czech Republic. From 2006-2009 Broadfoot lived and worked amongst the factory’s raw materials and machinery, using the brick, clay, masonite, wax, oils, plaster, found objects, and production byproducts in her sculptures and paintings. The result is a collection of highly textured works that demonstrate the beauty and vitality that can be generated from unassuming, utilitarian materials.
