Sculpture Assistanship, Lane Community College, Eugene, Oregon – My job was to facilitate all aspects of the sculpture program, which included woodworking, plastic forming, stone carving, metal fabrication and an aluminum and bronze foundry. I was responsible for maintaining all equipment, ordering materials, tools and operating the entire foundry process. I was also on hand to help teach students mold-making, investing, wax chasing, bronze chasing, welding and patinas. |
I have conducted workshops in portrait sculpture aside from the ones listed above and in that time have developed a program or way of teaching which has been very successful in helping students break through that inner voice which tells us “I can’t”. The trick seems to be to lead them to “see” in small stages until they find themselves doing much more than they thought they could.
